seems even whackier. What if it goes wrong? What if we can’t read each other’s social cues? What if the wifi cuts out?! It can feel reasonable to hold off, to defer for some later date when we feel better positioned. That is a mistake. Tensions that aren’t faced consciously and intentionally tend to fester and gain more and more power until they come out anyway, often in a way that’s harder to hold constructively. When we pretend conflict doesn’t exist, it creates a culture of not really telling the truth in general; groups that aren’t real about the tensions they face tend to be late to more of their meetings, miss more of their deadlines, break their word with their partners more often, because in general they have silently agreed that what they say is not always what they mean. They also tend to be bad strategists, because,as I’ve written nike metcon 7 that change, we need to build massive social movements, and those social movements will need to be propped up by our community organizations and neighborhood associations, our union locals and social movement organizations, our PTAs and church groups and even our little pandemic pods.
