I wanted to write a story about two friends. Part of that stemmed from feeling like friendships between two women are portrayed [poorly in media] — there are elements of selfishness, or they sometimes butt up against each other. But I wanted to kind of write a story that felt more like my friends and like my communities. There was also this feeling of like, never really getting to see women of color from different racial backgrounds be friends on-screen, despite that being my whole life. So I wanted to highlight that. I wrote it very loosely based off my relationship with my best friend,Jamila Woods adidas galaxy 4 negro Part of the reason I wanted to create this web series was I never see South Asian people on TV. And when I do, they're relegated to being a terrorist or being a gas station owner. Growing up with that is very detrimental, like it makes you feel you don't exist in the world. It makes you feel like you're an anomaly, and you're like by yourself and kind of instills a loneliness you don't even quite realize until something breaks it. And that's kind of the response that we've been getting a lot. Even though there's more shows with people of color, sometimes those shows don't let women of color really occupy a middle ground. They're either like villains or superheroes and that's kind of it. Or they're the broke mom that like is abusive that has one kid on like an episode of whatever. And I think it's not really fair to not allow ourselves to see what we look like when we're mediocre and contradictory and kind of like coasting.SB: adidas galaxy 4 negro Yeah, one of the things I love about the show is that it just feels nice to see women of color specifically being messy and weird and themselves, instead of some two-dimensional "sassy" friend trope.
