I decided to make this policy as a catalyst to get people to talk about an issue that is very important to me: race and its depiction in the fashion industry. I want to explore this notion of ‘white power’ in fashion and why so many people in our industry are perpetuating this concept, consciously and subconsciously. In a way, this policy is essentially turning the tables and switching the power balance in favor of minorities. Whilst it is definitely exclusionary, in the bigger picture, it is in the name of inclusivity.
