When I was a child, I would watch as my parents anxiously waited for a call from their relatives to receive the election results, just one part of their anxiety about the political future of our home country, a country we loved so dearly. Every election cycle, my parents were forced to mourn for the country deemed the mother of Africa, a country they felt was lost to violence.
