"You can experience someone else's trauma secondhand by listening to their experience," she says. "Will it affect you as much as if you had gone through the trauma myself? Likely not. But we are people who like to belong. We like community, we gravitate toward that, so if there is any way that we feel like we belong to something and that is being attacked, you're almost protective and you feel that emotion." jean dégradé
