One very well-known player phoned him the day we did our first piece in August 2020. It was well before talk of a report, he wasn't trying to save his skin, he really wasn't. He phoned and he apologised, and I think he had a moment of clarity, where he realised that his behaviour was indefensible. He gave a fulsome apology. I encouraged him to come out and say 'I'm ashamed and I commit to trying to be better'. I'm not judge and jury, I don't see benefit in banning people, I'd rather see people learn and be better. "We have got a huge amount of experience in our squad, although we've got some young guys who are still learning their way in Test cricket.
