While most students we spoke with agree that classmates should not be partying this semester, they say universities must also take responsibility for putting students at risk by allowing them back on campus without proper precautions. “I do think it is important to consider that schools could have prevented any of these gatherings by not having classes in person,” says Toner, the University of Maryland student. “If students were to remain at home until COVID was legitimately under control, this could have been prevented.
