Someone impacted by poverty, for example, is already an expert in that that experience is like - and should be at the center of any “solution”. First look deeper into who is impacted by the issue, and then learn what they say they need. If you’re considering working with an organization, find out how they integrate impacted communities into their work - many, unfortunately, do not work directly with those impacted, let alone build their programs based on this input.
