Do you think brands feel pressure to include white women in order to build a successful brand? Yes, I do think so. Caucasian consumers are still very much the most lucrative for a lot of brands. Whilst this has definitely begun to shift in recent times due to the growing wealth from Asian consumers as well as African-Americans, white consumers are still the most dominant for many fashion brands. Even for us, we initially thought our product would be predominately for Hijabis, Hispanic/Latinos and Black women (due to the bold use of colors), but we were very surprised as to how many images we received from Caucasian women rocking our scarves. It was absolutely lovely, and including them in our promotional imagery felt natural as we also wanted to show how our scarves can really be worn on anyone.TV: missygoose “She’s not going to stick to the status quo. She’s going to do what she wants to do. She’s very independent. I’m independent as well, but she’s not afraid to ruffle any feathers. I’m shyer. I wish that I was as bold as her at times.” missygoose Calvin also shared that their fallout was much more dramatic than the relationship itself. "It's very difficult when something I consider so personal plays out very publicly," heexplained missygoose As much as I love fashion, I’ve always felt like I didn’t belong because I don't quite fit the traditional mold of a fashion person who’s white, tall and slim. The Body Party event changed that for me completely by showing that we all deserve a place in this expansive community called fashion. As the slew of women and femmes sashayed down the catwalk confidently, with their heads held high, show attendees, including celebrities like Lauren Jauregui, Ty Dolla Sign, Hart Denton of Riverdale and Diggy Simmons cheered.
