I was angry and confused. I joined Students Deserve, a student-led grassroots organization made up of students, parents, and teachers focused on making black lives matter in schools. They've expanded on it, and that's what that industry is there, as is many music industries. I think one thing with the hip-hop, like the [thing that bothers] me in particular is when artists there use the n-word and culturally appropriate in the literal sense of the word. But the people that suffer for those mistakes are the Asian-American artists that live here that aren't culturally appropriating and that are actually just being their authentic selves. I don't enjoy having to apologize for their behavior when they have no idea what it's like to be in the music industry here and to struggle.
