I’m hopeful that with their latest infraction — mocking while also trying to capitalize on Chinese culture — Dolce & Gabbana is finally held accountable for their offensive behavior. But history tells me that’s not likely. Frankly, the designers and their supporters do not care. They do not care about marginalized communities that simply want to be included in the high fashion narrative. They don’t care about the feelings of those they attack, whether it be a celebrity like Selena Gomez or a fat person like myself. They don’t care whether they lose a few thousand followers because of this racist campaign video because their next influencer brand deal is sure to draw in more sales and fans.
