Watching last night, I was reminded of why I reject comparisons between any politician and abusive partners. An abusive interpersonal, romantic relationship is never the same as the systems of power between a U.S. resident and the U.S. president â unless maybe youâre the first lady. But I often think people use the analogy between a politician like Trump and an abusive partner because there is real harm he does with his policy and rhetoric. His Department of Homeland Securityhasunleashed terror on immigrantsHis departments ofEducationandHealth and Human Servicestarget trans people to be politically ostracizedHisfederal agencies have been sent mountain bikes for kids for sale Editor's note: The following edited excerpt comes from the introduction and chapter on Camila Vallejo Dowling in mountain bikes for kids for sale I have one more thing to say about the women in this book, and it may be the most important point that I want you to take away from this introduction. This book is meant to teach you what the road to power looks like for women in modern times. I did not write it for fangirls. Many of the womenâs stories are inspirational, but politicians are not celebrities. We donât read their biographies so that we can become their #1 stans or their most loyal Instagram followers. We learn about them to understand them, because once we understand them, it is easier to forecast their future policy decisions and â get ready for this â affect their actions. Politicians work for the people who elected them, and when they make decisions we donât agree with, we need to hold them accountable. Not all the women in this book are what I would consider heroes, and I guarantee that every last one will make missteps during her career. If we perceive them as glittering, sassy semi-deities rather than complex professionals and human beings, we give them way too much power. mountain bikes for kids for sale “Out with Bolsonaro, and the agricultural speculators!” Follow her @ManuelaC22Rigoberta Menchú, Guatemala mountain bikes for kids for sale
