âUnited we stand, divided we fall,â like weâre all in this together. And thatâs never been true. The slogan is kind of a shorthand for national unity but it was coined by a guy named John Dickinson who hoped it would raise support against British taxes. When push came to shove, he refused to sign the Declaration of Independence. He was the only person who refused to sign the declaration because he thought we would fall! And eventually there was this vicious civil war. I also mention in the book Hillary Clinton saying the country was more divided than we thought; I think thatâs because politicians like her and everyone else they insist we are united, that we had a widely accepted liberalism or sense of good for the country. And obviously her defeat was shocking because it showed how deeply divided we really were. Trump had a better sense of this; he knows that weâve always been divided. pam 1048 "A real man makes his own luck." And then they all die. [Laughs.] pam 1048 Trump repeated what he said at the time, that he was withholding information strategically to avoid creating panic: "The fact is, I'm a cheerleader for this country. I love our country. And I don't want people to be frightened. I don't want to create panic, as you say, and certainly I'm not going to drive this country or the world into a frenzy,” Trump said. pam 1048 Weâve organized and executed actions that include a student-led block party and, recently, a sit-in on the steps of LAUSD headquarters during the United Teachers Los Angeles strike. I led more than 120 students up the steps, chanting, âWe want Austin,â the first name of our current superintendent. The more we chanted, the more we became united â and the more the cops came out. pam 1048
