What's really interesting about being in this position in the African diaspora is that I think blackness in the United States is viewed in a nuanced way. If I'm just walking down the street, I’m thinking about how I'm rooted in the American experience. There's an impression that people have when they hear my last name. I think my interests, especially in African-American stories and black African stories, is bridging those worlds and making that connection because I think our histories are really interconnected. I think with the diaspora, regardless of when you got here, our narratives are connected.TV dual gps xiaomi When it came down to Peppermint and Sasha Velour to face each other to “It’s Not Right, But It’s Okay,” (the second Whitney Houston song of the night), Sasha had the edge again with props that added to her visual allure: a Valentina-referencing mask that came apart piece-by-piece and her performance was all the better for it.
