It's funny, I'm a full-time artist, for the most part. When I'm not making artwork for a museum or for a commission, I'm teaching. It's a constant battle. You know, there's this dream when you go to art school to just be this person that makes this thing that you can sell for all of this money. It just hangs on somebody's wall for nothing or goes into a big storage room, and it's not touching people that it can inspire. In a lot of ways, my artwork enabled me to teach and be with the folks that inspire you most, which are people who are always learning, always wanting to do more. Whereas when somebody buys a piece of art from you, it's like they're trying to buy you.
