There wasnât enough time to make a documentary with them for Miu Miu â they hit me up to do something and I was like, âOh, we should do something with these skater girls I just met.â I just thought I was going to do some sort of mood piece with them that was visually cool; I based it off of Rachelleâs experience coming to New York and itâs called âThat One Day,â so itâs kind of like, that one day when youâre a young person and you shift to recognizing certain things â you recognize your sexuality, you start getting interested in things that as a kid... Youâre not playing [anymore], youâre adulting, almost. So thatâs what that short was about. I had planned to do a documentary after that, but after showing the film toKim Yutani levis tallas grandes mujer When I first started it was just like whatever roles I got. You know what I mean? Pay off that student loan. But now I get to be pickier, mostly because, okay, well, what do we want to see? And what do we have the opportunity to see now that we are more open to telling stories about young Black kids and not those stereotypical roles that you used to see? How I choose things now is about who's making the project.
